(Troop)

Posted: Jun 29 2009 - 6:43pm

I am honored to announce our new Scoutmaster Elect, Mr. Michael Lynch. Mr. Lynch is one of the pioneers of Troop 736 and he has big plans for the troop. I ask all scouts and their families to give a cheer for Mr. Lynch and lend a hand to his mission. This is a boy run troop but the boys can't do it without the guidance and support of their family. Stay tuned for more details.

United Way makes significant funding cuts to Scouts
(Council)

Posted: Jun 5 2009 - 9:57am

The United Way allocation supporting the council's inner city program known as ScoutReach will fall from $95,220 to $20,000 annually. The 2008-2009 allocation had already been reduced by $3,170 following last fall's United Way campaign season. We anticipated a sharp reduction, but did not know it would be nearly the entire allocation. We still receive donor designations which are budgeted at $122,000 this year.

Training Update
(Council)

Posted: Apr 30 2009 - 3:37pm

"This is Scouting" replaces New Leader Essentials as a required course for Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Venturing volunteers to earn the "Trained" leader emblem. Districts should eliminate New Leader Essentials from all training calendars and add a link to http://MySouting.org.
