Senior Patrol Leader's Recap-Camp Marroitt
(Troop)

Posted: Aug 6 2008 - 9:43am

I believe that this year’s summer camp was a great success. The scouts did well in reacting to the changes that year’s camp brought. As Troop 736 is swelling in numbers it becomes a greater challenge to have the troop run as smoothly as it would with a smaller number of boys, but the scouts did well in accepting direction and quickly reacting to change. Camp Marriot was a challenge for our troop because to us it was not the kind of summer camp we are familiar with. With no dining hall, food pick up and preparation was left to us; and under the leadership of Max Wheeler in the kitchen we were able to overcome this new challenge. I think the troop as a whole did a good job in keeping the camp clean and getting their merit badges finished. We only missed the troop of the day award by one point twice. Everyone did a great job at retreat by performing the cheer and wearing the funny-looking hats. It was a fun camp and I hope that the troop had as much fun as I did. It could only have been accomplished through the hard work of the assistant senior patrols leaders and the patrol leaders who did a fantastic job. I am very proud of the troop and it doesn’t matter that we didn’t get the oar because we don’t need a piece of wood to know that we were the best troop at that camp.

Hiking The Priest Takes Prayer and Patience
(Troop)

Posted: Apr 28 2008 - 12:45am

Imagine climbing three thousand feet in altitude over a distance of nearly five miles carrying between thirty five and forty pounds on your back. Well, over the recent weekend of April 11th -13th, a crew of eight scouts, including five scouts from Troop 736 who will be attending the high adventure camp in Philmont, New Mexico this summer, did just that as they climbed up The Priest mountain in Nelson County, Virginia.
